  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and sour cream to the butter mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Gently mix in whole milk until smooth.
  7. Prepare the cinnamon swirl by combining brown sugar and cinnamon; drizzle in melted butter and stir until combined.
  8. Fill each cupcake liner with batter, add a spoonful of cinnamon mixture, then top with more batter.
  9. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool for five minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Whisk together glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cupcakes.
