  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or a silicone mat and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook until the mixture reaches 240°F while stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat; drop in cubes of butter without stirring. Let sit for 1 minute.
  5. Add vanilla extract and pecans, stirring continuously until combined and thickened.
  6. Quickly drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet before the mixture sets.
  7. Allow pralines to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
