  • 2/3 cup lukewarm whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter (for layering)
  • 1 large egg (beaten) for egg wash

Instructions

  2. Stir in lukewarm milk and melted butter until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth; let rise covered for 45 minutes.
  4. Roll cold butter into a square; chill.
  5. Roll out dough into a square, encase the butter, then roll and fold three times, chilling between folds.
  6. Shape into triangles and roll into croissants; let rise again for one hour.
  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
