  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter (for cinnamon swirl)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 Tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract and buttermilk.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. For the cinnamon swirl, mix brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter until thick.
  6. Spoon half the batter into the prepared pan; swirl in half the cinnamon mixture. Top with remaining batter and swirl the rest of the cinnamon mixture on top.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Prepare vanilla glaze by mixing powdered sugar with milk and vanilla extract until smooth; drizzle over cooled loaf before serving.
