Ingredients
- 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 1/4 tsp Instant Yeast
- 1 1/4 cups Cold Whole Milk
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter
- 16 pieces Chocolate Batons or Semi-Sweet Chocolate
- Confectioners’ Sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well.
- Gradually add cold milk while stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead gently for five minutes until smooth.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours.
- Roll out the chilled dough into a rectangle. Pound cold butter between parchment paper until even, then place on one half of the dough.
- Fold the other half over the butter and roll it out into a long rectangle. Fold into thirds like a letter; repeat this two more times with chilling in between.
- Roll out the final dough and cut into triangles. Place chocolate batons at the base and roll towards the tip.
- Place shaped croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let rise until doubled in size, about one hour.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush croissants with milk and bake for approximately twenty minutes until golden brown.
- Dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving warm.
